A new year...a new home?

Ok, so I have a lot to fill you in on. A few days after my pink ball's mysterious disappearance, it was located, in someone else's kennel! Charlie Brown stole it. It was in his kennel, which is a few doors down from mine. Personally, I think he heard about my blog and was just trying to get attention for himself. Boys are such simpletons. They don't usually think before speaking or acting. Anyway, that is another blog post; the superiority of the female race. LOL

But wait, there's more! Last weekend, a box arrived here at the shelter. It was addressed to ME! But I have not ordered anything. I don't have any money. I don't really even know what money is, or why humans seem so obsessed with it. Anyhooo....Karen opened the box for me. Have I mentioned lately that Karen is my hero? She has coordinated the rescue of 1002 animals from our shelter in the past year. 1002!!! That is pretty impressive and if you see her or talk to her, you should let her know how amazing she is. She even drove 2 dogs and 5 cats from the shelter to rescues on Christmas Day! Ok so that's another blog story too. Back to me. And the box that came by mail.

What's in the box? What's in the box?!?

The box contained 5 pink balls...just like the one I lost! I was like OMG can this really be happening? I tore at the plastic wrap and bounced around the office for an hour. 5 MORE plastic pink squeaky balls?!? I wonder if someone saw my last post and searched that world wide web thingy and found them for me? Karen said a lot of people worked together to find me those pink balls. And they even made the trip from Singapore to the US! PawMart is awesome. There must be some super animal lovers all over the world. And that makes my heart happy.

Happiness is 5 more pink squeaky balls!!!

So, now to the title of this post. I don't want to seem ungrateful for the 5 pink balls from PawMart in Singapore. And Michele, and Gina, and Karen, and all the people who got them to me. It's been a huge bright spot for me, and has brought the smile back to my face. But it's now 2014, and I still need a home. I hoped it would happen last year. I am starting to wonder if something is wrong with me. Am I too short? Too fat? Too stubby? Too happy? Not happy enough? Too brown? Too desperate? I can only be me. And people have said that's the only thing you CAN be. Someone has to love me for who I am. And it's also been said that anyone would love me, if they would only give me a chance by meeting me in person. We can arrange that. It's super easy! Karen can help you meet me!

Something Terrible Has Happened....

My Pink Ball has disappeared.
MIA
Gone.
Vanished into thin air.
I requested an Amber Alert be sent out but shelter staff said this incident does not qualify.

I don't know why someone would throw it away, but we suspect that is what happened. I never should have left it! Oh God this is the worst thing I can imagine. The Pink Ball was my security blanket. It was my constant. The one thing I could always count on. It had just the perfect amount of squeakiness. I loved it so much.

I spent the day in bed. I don't want to eat, or play, or be bothered. I think staff is worried as they were muttering something about me being 'on a hunger strike'. I miss my pink squeaky ball. I want it back. Karen thought she could fool me by getting me a new ball. She bought an assortment of them in fact. But they were not the same. I appreciate her effort, I really do. But some things are irreplaceable... you know?

I was planning in my head my next post, which was gonna be about pepperoni. But that seems so trivial now that Pink Ball has gone missing. I don't know how I can even continue. Can somebody please search that thing you call 'the world wide web' and find my pink ball? Maybe that's where it has gone. I tried to get on the internet today but I could not see to type or scroll in between my tears. So I just went back to bed. I hope somebody will care enough to find it for me. I don't ask much out of this life. Food, water, a comfy bed, love, and my pink ball. Oh yeah, and someone to adopt me. That might make this whole mess a lot better.

Me and My Pink Ball

Hi everybody please read my blog!
Hi!

I am Sandy, and the newest member of this thing called 'doggy blogging'. Someone had the idea to help us animals at Allegan County/Wishbone Pet Rescue find homes by letting us speak for ourselves. About time! Where do I start....

I arrived here at the shelter in July. My previous owners 'didn't have time' for me. Pff. I guess even making sure I got my heartworm prevention was too time consuming, because I tested heartworm positive during my routine physical stuff here:(  I had to undergo treatment, because heartworm will kill dogs. But I am done with all that business and now heartworm free! Did you know there are several options for heartworm prevention and it's not even expensive for the once a month pill?! And dogs are super easy to pill...we just think it's a treat and gobble it right down!

So more about me. I am about 3.5 years old. I have a broken tail but that makes me even cuter, right? I am average weight for a female pittie at a healthy 55lbs. I am stocky and resemble a warthog hahaha! And they say my coloring is red. I get to spend a lot of time in the front office where I am 'acting Walmart greeter'. It's a fun job. I'd do it forever except the pay sucks and what I really want is a new forever home! They say that doggie blogs are a great way to find a home. I guess people spend lots of time on their computers nowadays?

Me and My Pink Squeaky Ball!

Do you have a favorite thing? Like a purse, or shoes, or something like that? I do too! It's this pink squeaky ball. I love it so much and I need to have it with me at all times. If you adopt me, can I bring it with me? Other things I like are:
People
Attention
People
Treats
People
Other Dogs who are laid back/chillax and not in my face
People
Get the picture? Haha!
Just one little thing I don't really like; cats. It's been said that I chase them with a little too much interest. So let's keep this simple and everyone wins. A home without kitty cats is best for me!

I will drop my ball for treats! I am 'very trainable'!!!

So, I was thinking, I would like to be adopted by Christmas. I mean, they take great care of me here. But having a tree with presents (maybe something for me???), and lights, and a happy family who thinks I am way better than any gift under the tree.......well the thought just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. It's what every shelter pet dreams of. We even pray for it, when we are here in our beds at night. After everyone has gone home, and we have just our thoughts. Just because someone did not want us, there has to be someone else in this big world who does want us! And will treasure us. And take care of us in sickness and health. And make our dreams come true. There are so many more wonderful things about me that are hard to put into words. You have to give me a chance to wow you in person. Here is all you gotta do:
